Angolan President Honors Former US Heads of State

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan president João Lourenço on Thursday, in Luanda, awarded the Medal of Honor to former US Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush and William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.

The recognition took place within the framework of the 8th Awards Ceremony, which distinguishes prominent personalities in the categories of Honor, Independence, and Peace and Development.

George Herbert Walker Bush, born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts, was the 41st President of the United States of America , serving from 1989 to 1993. Before becoming president, he had a long political career, including positions such as ambassador to the UN, director of the CIA, and vice-president under Ronald Reagan (1981-1989).

William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton, born on August 19, 1946, in Arkansas, served as the 42nd President of the country for two terms, between 1993 and 2001.

His political career included the position of governor of the State of Arkansas before becoming president. Clinton graduated from Georgetown University and Yale Law School, where he met his wife, Hillary Clinton.
