Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s ambassador to Spain, Balbina Dias da Silva, reiterated Tuesday, in Madrid, the country’s openness to foreign investment, as it is a nation in transformation, with political stability and ongoing economic reforms.

The ambassador was speaking during a luncheon with the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of Spain, businesspeople, and Angolan residents, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, celebrated this Tuesday, November 11th.

Given this increasingly favorable environment for foreign investment, the diplomat invited Spanish businesspeople to explore the opportunities that…

Angola offers opportunities in the energy, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, infrastructure, and emerging technologies sectors.

“But more than business, this celebration is also about values. Angola and Spain share a commitment to peace, multilateralism, sustainable development, and the dignity of peoples,” she emphasized.

She said it is in this spirit that they intend to continue building bridges between governments, businesses, and cultures.

Balbina da Silva hopes that the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Angola will inspire new partnerships, projects, and a renewed ambition for the future between Angola and the Kingdom of Spain.

“We have been tireless in our work to show the world an open, stable Angola, prepared to welcome all those who feel attracted to invest, focusing on…”The ambassador highlighted the importance of attracting foreign direct investment, stimulating exports of national production, and the gradual internationalization of our companies.

She acknowledged that, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1987, the two countries have cultivated a constructive and fruitful dialogue, extending to multiple domains, from the economy, education, culture, technical training, diplomacy, and innovation.

She emphasized the historic visit of King Felipe VI to Angola in February 2023, symbolizing the high point in strengthening relations between the two peoples.

The ambassador also spoke of the need to continue diversifying the country’s economy, focusing on agriculture as a base and industry as the decisive factor for progress.”There is no development without infrastructure, therefore, within the framework of our mandate in the African Union, Angola has chosen the financing of the continent’s infrastructure as a central aspect for projecting development,” he recalled.

On the other hand, he considered Angola an unavoidable actor today in matters of conflict prevention and resolution, offering a doctrine of peace and post-conflict national reconciliation.

He based this on the two elections as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the four mandates on the African Union Peace and Security Council, participation in multiple peacekeeping missions, and leadership of various mediation initiatives.

He continued, saying that Angola also hosted the Luanda Biennial for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, whose recognition consecrated the country as a Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, a milestone of great relevance that makes any patriot proud.

The central event of November 11th took place in Luanda.

In the early morning of November 11, 1975, the world witnessed the birth of the then People’s Republic of Angola (RPA), with the proclamation of its Independence by President António Agostinho Neto.

The ceremony held in Independence Square (or First of May Square), in Luanda, marked the end of almost 500 years of Portuguese colonization and the birth of a free state, fulfilling the dream of freedom for millions of Angolans.
