Ambassador Highlights Angola-Uae Relations

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato, highlighted on Tuesday (11) in Abu Dhabi the excellent relations between his country and Angola.

Speaking during the celebrations of 50 years of national independence in Abu Dhabi, the political and administrative capital of the United Arab Emirates, the diplomat said that this friendship has been consolidated over the years.

He stressed that relations took on a new dimension with the historic state visit to Angola by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which took place in August this year.

This visit resulted in more than 40 cooperation agreements in strategic areas such as energy, logistics, agriculture, technology, infrastructure and transport.

Before the UAE’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, the Angolan diplomat expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership and people of this nation.

Fifty years after independence, Júlio Maiato reaffirmed Angola’s position as a nation prepared for the future, based on political stability, ongoing reforms and an increasingly favourable business climate, ready to welcome cooperation and investment that promote shared progress.

Quoting Angolan President João Lourenço, ‘today we offer conditions that guarantee contractual stability, legal certainty, predictability and a fair return’.

‘It is in this spirit of confidence that we celebrate Angola: a sovereign, stable country open to the world, ready to turn challenges into opportunities,’ he added.

The ambassador emphasised his conviction that ‘investing in Angola means investing in the future of the African continent’, as the country is finalising structural projects for regional connectivity in the areas of roads, ports and railways.

He added that other hydrocarbon refining infrastructure is currently being finalised, with the aim of serving not only Angola, but also the sub-regions of Southern Africa and Central Africa.

The celebrations were marked by a cultural performance (music and dance) by the Mona Nzambi group from Luanda.

The event was organised jointly by the Angolan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Angolan Consulate General in Dubai.

In addition to Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, the celebration of 50 years of national independence was attended by Yousef Al Mazrouei, director of the Central Africa department of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Consul General of Angola in Dubai, Paula de Castro, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the United Arab Emirates and the Angolan community residing in this Middle Eastern country, including diplomats, businesspeople and guests.
