Angola Reaffirms Opennes for Foreign Investment

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Maquento Sebastião Lopes, said this Thursday (13) that Angola continuous to be open to foreign investment and that it has broad space for economic initiatives that can propel the projects underway.

Speaking at the politico-diplomatic ceremony held to commemorate Angola’s 50th independence anniversary, marked on 11 November, the diplomat said that the states and companies with presence in Egypt have real investment opportunities in sectors like public works, agriculture, minerals exploration, fisheries and indudtry.

Maquento Sebastião Lopes highlighted the international solidarity throughout all the crucial phases of Angola’s historical process, since the liberation struggle up to the current moment of development.

Speaking to the diplomatic corps, the Angolan diplomat underscored the support of countries, public and private institutions that have contributed to the fight against hunger, poverty and social inequalities, as well as of partners that believe in the reforms underway, so they choose to invest in Angola.

He recalled the crucial solidarity shown during the national liberation struggle, highlighting the assistance of countries like Ghana, Guinea. Tanzania, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt.

He also mentioned the then support from the DR Congo and the former USSR, former East European socialist countries and Cuba, which were decisive for Angolan sovereignty.

Maquento Lopes hailed the Egyptian Government and local firms for their involvement in strengthening the bilateral relations.

He seized the occasion to make a brief historical account of the country’s achievements in fifty years of independence, with emphasis on the conquest of definitive peace, the country’s stabilisation and progeresses in the sectors of health, economy, infrastructure, science and technology.

The ceremony included the showing of videos on the reality of Angola and traditional Angolan music performed by the Kafuxi group, as well as a gastronomy fair.
