Africa-Press – Angola. The new Chairperson of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), Félix Tshisekedi, on Saturday, in Kinshasa, honored the Angolan Head of State for his leadership and unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the region.
The Congolese leader was speaking during his acceptance speech as the new acting president of ICGLR, after the handover of portfolios by João Lourenço, who led the organization in the last two terms starting in November 2020.
The event marked the beginning of the opening session of the 9th ordinary ICGLR summit, which is taking place in the Congolese capital under the motto Consolidating peace and stability for sustainable development in the Great Lakes region.
Félix Tshisekedi, current head of state of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), thanked President João Lourenço for defending the principles of the ICGLR founding pact and leaving a more attentive, more proactive and more ambitious organization.
