Africa-Press – Angola. French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Luanda Monday afternoon to participate in the 7th African Union–European Union Summit, which brings together leaders from both continents to reinforce political, economic and strategic cooperation.
Macron was received at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by senior entities from the Angolan State and immediately went to the Protocol Hall of the Presidency of the Republic, where the event will take place until Tuesday.
The event takes places in a context of growing European attention to Africa’s role in the areas of security, sustainable development, migration and energy transition.
During the summit, the French Head of State is expected to participate in sessions dedicated to investment, peace and security, youth, African industrialization, financing for development and digitalization, topics considered priorities in relations between the European Union and the African Union.
The summit takes place in Luanda under the motto “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism”, bringing together heads of state, institutional leaders and representatives of international organizations.
Also, the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, the presidents of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, and Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, arrived.
Also arriving in Luanda on Monday were the President of the Government Council of Togo, Essozimna Gnassingbé, the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, and the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mostafa Madbouly.
