Africa-Press – Angola. An Airbus A330 operated by the French airline (Air France), with 100 passengers on board, on Sunday landed at 7 PM on Sunday at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), in the province of Icolo e Bengo, thus marking the transfer of its operations from 4 de Fevereiro Airport (Luanda) to the new infrastructure.

The aircraft, with a total capacity of 224 passengers, is scheduled to return at 10 PM on Monday, bound for Paris, France, carrying 180 passengers.

In statements to the press, the director of Air France in Angola, Djamila Beija, announced that the company will have four daily flights, directly connecting France, from its Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG), and Angola (AIAAN) Icolo e Bengo.

According to the official, the transfer of flight operations from the 4 de Fevereiro Airport to AIAAN represents modernity, a new phase for commercial aviation for companies operating in Angola, providing passengers with greater comfort.

She noted that there are still mobility difficulties in accessing AIAAN from Luanda, and therefore considered the functioning of the currently paralyzed train services to be important.

This step makes Air France the first European airline to operate at AIAAN, reinforcing the airport’s strategic positioning as a new gateway to Angola and a regional development hub.

Air France began operating in Angola in 1976 and has played an important role in connecting Angola with key international markets.

In addition to Air France, Angola Airlines (TAAG) and the United Arab Emirates airlines (Emirates), already operate at AIAAN.
