Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan president João Lourenço congratulated on Sunday his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan for the 55th anniversary of the independence of the Middle Eastern country.
In a congratulatory message sent, João Lourenço, on behalf of the Angolan government and people, congratulated the UAE government and people, praising this Arab country’s exemplary path and its remarkable and solid development.
The Angolan President emphasizes the fact that the United Arab Emirates is asserting itself through institutional stability, leadership on the international stage, and the strategic vision of its leaders, who have guided its economic and social progress.
Lourenço highlighted the high level of friendly relations, solidarity, and cooperation that has existed for more than two decades between the two nations, which in recent years have been strengthened and consolidated through constructive dialogue, mutual trust, reciprocal respect, and mutually beneficial partnerships in various fields.
In the letter, the Angolan statesman reaffirms Angola’s commitment to deepening and diversifying bilateral cooperation, promoting initiatives that contribute to the consolidation of a strategic partnership that responds to the development aspirations of the respective peoples.
Bilateral relations
Relations between Angola and the United Arab Emirates are strategic and multifaceted, characterized by strong recent growth, especially in areas such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and investment.
A significant milestone was the signing of 44 agreements in August 2025, which include military, financial, and cultural cooperation, as well as visa exemptions for certain passport categories. UAE investments in Angola exceed 6.5 billion US dollars and aim to diversify the Angolan economy.
