Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Dias, reaffirmed on Wednesday, in the city of Praia (Republic of Cabo Verde), the commitment of the Republic of Angola to the principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and its global agenda on the promotion of decent and productive employment.
The Minister also reiterated the commitment to respecting fundamental rights at work, strengthening social protection and promoting social dialogue.
The Minister was speaking at the II Extraordinary Meeting of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), which is taking place from wednesday until Friday in Cape Verde.
The government official highlighted that, to continue this agenda, the “fair wage 2025” campaign has been underway since last November, aiming to ensure the full application of the minimum wage throughout the national territory, through inspection actions in the commerce, industry and service sectors.
She added that campaign also aims to reduce the level of non-compliance in the payment of the national minimum wage in the formal sector, including domestic workers.
“At the national level, we will continue to invest in strengthening the institutional capacity of the General Labour Inspectorate, in strengthening labour relations, in reducing informality and in protecting the most vulnerable workers,” she stressed.
She said that the country will prioritize the expansion of social protection schemes and the improvement of safety, hygiene and health conditions at work, as indispensable bases for human development and the guarantee of social stability for families.
