UK Seeks Investment Partnership in Icolo e Bengo

Africa-Press – Angola. The United Kingdom’s ambassador to Angola, Bharat Joshi, said Wednesday in Catete, Icolo e Bengo, that his country is interested in establishing investment partnerships for the socio-economic development of the province.

The British diplomat expressed this desire at the end of a visit of a few hours to Icolo e Bengo, stating that the province is new and shows promise and great attractions for investments in various sectors of economic activity that UK entrepreneurs can explore.

He said the United Kingdom want to actively contribute to the development and growth of this new province, in areas of interest such as agriculture, education (granting of scholarships) and vocational technical training.

The diplomat stated that his country’s interest extends to the energy, railway, technology and hospital sectors, as well as the import, as soon as possible, of tropical fruits from Angola, with emphasis on pineapple, papaya, banana, guava, among others.

During his stay in Icolo e Bengo, Ambassador Bharat Joshi visited a business group known as Cipro Group and learned about the various economic potential that the province can offer.

The province of Icolo e Bengo was created less than nine months ago under the new Political and Administrative Division of Luanda and has its capital in the town of Catete.

It has seven municipalities, 11 communes and an estimated population of 1,372,670 inhabitants.
