Africa-Press – Angola. At least eleven designers representing Angola, Ghana, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Rwanda, Mozambique, Mauritius, Kenya, and São Tomé and Príncipe presented their creations on Saturday during the first edition of Africa Fashion Time held in Angolan capital, Luanda.
Designer Nadir Tati organized the event with the aim of uniting the continent through fashion.
In a vibrant atmosphere full of color, modernity, and identity, the show featured pieces by Ghanaian designer Nana Tamakloe, followed by those of Cape Verdean designer Tesha Tavares and Rwandan designer Emmanuel Mibomsemga.
The second parade blended cultures, textures, and narratives. It began with pieces by Henriqueta Macuacua (Mozambique), Gabriel Froid (Mauritius), Alfa Umaro Canté (Guinea-Bissau), Antonieta (São Tomé and Príncipe), and Shiro Antiru (Kenya).
The third and final parade highlighted creations by Angolan designers Carla Silva, Avó Benguela, and Nadir Tati.
Tati revealed that an African president inspired the idea, which focuses on strengthening unity between countries and positioning the continent’s fashion globally.She added that Africa Fashion Time will be held annually in December and will have special editions in May to celebrate the anniversary of the “cradle of civilization.”
Tesha Tavares, a Cape Verdean designer, praised Angola’s initiative, considering the event to be the beginning of the “rise of the empire” of African fashion.
The event was attended by fashion enthusiasts, government officials, political party representatives, and other guests.
