Angola Launches First Civil Aviation Academy

Africa-Press – Angola. The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) launched Angola’s first Civil Aviation Academy (AACA) on Monday at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, with the aim of strengthening, modernising and establishing a sovereign training system in this sector in the country.

Located at the Aeronautical Training Centre of the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA), the institution is dedicated to training pilots, air traffic controllers, operations technicians, managers, operational safety specialists, among other careers essential to the safe and efficient operation of the civil aviation system.

Speaking to the press, the director-general of AACA, Paulino da Silva, who gave a technical presentation on the infrastructure, said that the academy was created to meet the need for specialised and qualified training in the Angolan civil aviation sector.

He stressed that civil aviation requires continuous training and capacity building for professionals to ensure the safety, efficiency and quality of services provided in the sector.

According to the director, the training cycle is expected to begin in January 2026, with training in three modules, solely intended to train trainers with the aim of expanding the pool of professionals who will teach the courses.

He assured that the training will be provided by Angolan specialists, but whenever justified, the institution may resort to foreign expertise.

Paulino da Silva clarified that, after the second half of 2026, training will be extended to ANAC and civil aviation professionals from different specialities within the national aeronautical industry.

In the manager’s view, the AACA should act as a mechanism for bringing the industry and other public and private institutions closer together, subsequently establishing regional and international partnerships to train staff from other countries.

AACA is committed to providing training of excellence, based on the most demanding international standards, with the aim of becoming a regional reference academy to support neighbouring countries with training, through innovation and applied research in safety, efficiency and sustainability.

The academy’s training courses are certified by the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
