Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), João Lourenço, highlighted, on Wednesday, the role of the Army in defending territorial integrity, preserving peace and guaranteeing national stability.
In his message addressed to general, lieutenants, captains and junior officers, sergeants, enlisted personnel and civil workers, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the corporation which is being celebrated, the Head of State highlighted that the event takes place in a historic year for the country, marked by the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, celebrated on 11 November.
According to João Lourenço, the date constitutes a moment of evocation of the sacrifice, courage and selflessness of all Angolans who fought to build a free, sovereign and independent Angola, with the Army asserting itself, over more than three decades, as one of the fundamental pillars of the Angolan State.
The President of the Republic highlighted that the Army was born from the sovereign will of the Angolan people to consolidate peace, transform a past of conflict into a future of hope and build a robust, disciplined, organized land force capable of defending the Homeland in any circumstances.
In the message, the Commander-in-Chief of the FAA recognized the decisive contribution of the Army’s military personnel and civilian workers to the preservation of the constitutional order, the security of the populations and the reinforcement of national sovereignty, praising the patriotic spirit, discipline, professionalism and sense of mission demonstrated in the fulfillment of duty.
The Head of State warned, however, of the challenges of the contemporary world, which require greater attention to geostrategic dynamics, technological evolution and hybrid, cyber and unconventional threats, as well as the reinforcement of joint action with the other branches of the Armed Forces and the strategic partners of the National Security System.
In this context, he reiterated the Angolan State’s commitment to the modernization and re-equipment of the Army, the valorization of human resources, continuous training, technological innovation and the reinforcement of operational capacity, considering human capital as the institution’s main strength.
The Head of State also highlighted the role of the Angolan Army in regional, African and international military cooperation, through military diplomacy, technical-professional exchange and participation in peace support operations and stabilization missions, contributions that raise Angola’s prestige on the continent and in the world.
João Lourenço reiterated his commitment to supporting all initiatives that aim to strengthen the Angolan Army, reinforce internal cohesion, enhance the military career and consolidate the supreme mission of defending territorial integrity, sovereignty and national security.
On this date, the President of the Republic extended warm congratulations to all Army personnel and civilian workers and expressed the Nation’s recognition for their invaluable contribution to the peace, security and development of Angola.
