Africa-Press – Angola. The cruise ship “Crystal Symphony” docked on Thursday (18) in the Port of Namibe, country’s southwest, on a trip that began in Barcelona, Spain, with 378 tourists of various nationalities on board.
In statements to the press, the general director of Travel Gest, José Cabral, the company promoting the trip, informed that the ship has already passed through several countries, including São Tomé & Príncipe, explaining that after Namibe it will dock in Namibia, en route to Cape Town, South Africa.
He said that the expedition includes tourists of various nationalities, notably Americans, English, Japanese, Brazilians, Australians and Chinese.
He added that the ship will remain off the coast of Namibe until 6 pm of the same day, explaining that the tourists will visit various tourist attractions such as the Arco lagoon in Tômbwa, the Leba mountain range in Bibala, the coastal road and the São Fernando fortress in Moçâmedes.
José Cabral praised the tourism sector, acknowledging the effort that the government and tourism operators make to promote Angola’s image abroad.
He revealed that tourists enjoy the hospitality of the population, the culture, the gastronomic experience, and the natural beauty and historical heritage of the region.
He stated that the next arrivals will reach the province’s coast in April 2026.
On site, American tourist Madalen Robert said that it was her first time in the country, but that she had a lot of information about Namibe through social media and the press, but that her main interest was visiting the Namib Desert.
Diogo Kyrllos, a Brazilian from the city of Pernambuco, expressed his happiness at being in a city founded by people from Pernambuco.
He said that it was his second time visiting the city, adding that most of the tourists on board were visiting for the first time.
In turn, the head of the tourism department of the Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism, Vladimir de Carvalho, stated that the cruise will allow for greater promotion of local tourism in the international market and offer greater visibility to the historical and cultural richness of the city.
