Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, announced on Tuesday (23), in Moçâmedes City, that the export of 361,115 units of black granite from the Port of Namibe generated US$28,562,806 during the 2025 fiscal year.
In statements to the press, the governor pointed out, among other products exported throughout this year, white marble, blocks of raw granite, frozen fish, and crab.
He also mentioned that, from Jan to Nov of the current year, 81,315 kilograms of various fish were exported, generating foreign exchange worth €395,528.
According to Archer Mangueira, in comparison to the same period last year, there was a decrease of 92%, due to the fact that only one company carried out the export, unlike the three exporting companies in 2024.
Among the three exporting companies (Sicopal, Atami, and Edipesca), since March 2024, Sicopal is the only one certified in the province of Namibe to export to the Eurozone, reinforcing the credibility and international reach of Angolan products.
On the other hand, Governor Archer Mangueira announced that the province is registering important advances in salt production, with the emergence of new saltworks, noting that the construction of a new saltworks in the municipality of Tômbwa is planned, with an installed capacity of 2,000,000 tons annualy, in a private initiative.
In this area, he recalled that, from Jan to Oct of the current year, the 4 saltworks produced 5.94 thousands tons of salt, while in the same period last year 9.87 thousand tons were registered, representing a 48% decrease.
He also highlighted that in 2025, the province of Namibe registered significant improvements in infrastructure in the fishing sector, with the licensing of new companies, which allowed the number of companies to increase from 44 to 54, guaranteeing direct employment for 3,937,000 workers.
Archer Mangueira pointed to artisanal fishing as another priority for local authorities, highlighting that this segment plays an important role in the local economy, involving more than 1,507 vessels.
He emphasized that the current year saw the capture of 110,575 tons of various fish, with emphasis on horse mackerel, sardines, grouper, sea bream, sparrow, crab, croaker, among other species.
The official mentioned that compared to the same period last year, there was a decrease of 15%, with 130,352 tons of various fish being caught in 2024.
He said that the figure for artisanal fishing was 85,047 tons, semi-industrial 8,021 tons, and industrial 17,507 tons.
