Thirteen Companies Join "Transform Here" Program in Namibe

Africa-Press – Angola. Thirteen companies in the productive sector in Namibe Province have requested more than 4.4 billion kwanzas from the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA) this year, for the local transformation of agricultural production, within the scope of the program named “Transform Here”, stated the provincial governor, Archer Mangueira, on Tuesday in Moçâmedes.

Speaking to the press, the governor stated that most of the projects are in the evaluation phase and others have already been validated and are under the fund’s supervision, adding that a set of innovative structuring actions are being implemented to boost the productive sector.

Regarding the area of anchor farms, he announced that the provincial government has established strategic partnerships with the Kapangombe Agricultural Technical Institute and the Adriano Silva Company, creating conditions for more sustainable agricultural production through the technical training of young people and family farmers, with a view to strengthening food security.

He exemplified that only in Kapangombe in the munucipality of Bibala, the anchor farms will directly benefit 150 producers, including individual beneficiaries and cooperatives, with the processes ready for contracting and commencement of activities.

According to Archer Mangueira, two new anchor farms are currently being prepared, at the Caraculo and Cacanda zootechnical stations, aimed at supporting farming of large and small ruminants, with a direct impact expected for approximately 400 cattle breeding farmers.

He also highlighted that two new sectoral anchor farms have been submitted to FADA, one dedicated to beekeeping, with technical support from the Forestry Development Institute (IDF), and another focused on the production of vegetables and cereals, with technical support from the Agronomic Research Institute.

Regarding the strengthening of local production, he stated that 302 applications have been submitted to FADA, of which 168 are awaiting disbursement, demonstrating the strong demand and confidence of producers in the existing financing mechanisms.

Regarding the distribution of land plots for agriculture, it is noted that several structuring projects are underway, namely the rehabilitation and maintenance of dams for farming and irrigation, the allocation of 791 land plots, corresponding to 2,496 hectares, and the widening of the Macala-Aida road, which has facilitated the flow of agricultural production.

He also highlighted the strengthening of agricultural mechanization with the delivery of 25 tractors and 22 motor cultivators, and that a partnership has been planned for tomato processing, particularly in collaboration with the Casa-Nova group.

The government official emphasized that for the 2025/2026 agricultural campaign, the aim is to achieve an estimated total production of up to 700,000 tons of various products and to strengthen farming conditions, with special attention to vaccination and sanitary inspection of products of animal origin, guaranteeing greater production, quality, and food safety for the population.

Regarding the productive development, he highlighted the completion of the Strengthening Resilience and Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN) project, which benefited more than 10,000 families, and the poultry and pig farming development program, through which more than 16,000 chicks and more than 75 pigs were distributed. The program is currently underway with the sale of eggs and chicks by breeders’ cooperatives.

He reinforced the commitment to family farming and cooperativism with the creation of 306 field schools, 96 of which have already been validated and the establishment of 122 new cooperatives, bringing the current total to 155 cooperatives and 71 farmers’ associations in the province.
