Africa-Press – Angola. The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic and Monitoring Coordinator of the Northern Judicial Region, Astrigildo Culolo, stated that he found insufficient working conditions and a reduced number of technicians from the agency in the province.
According to the magistrate, who began a 5-day visit to the northern province of Malanje on Monday (09), in addition to the lack of resources, the Prosecutor’s Office is only represented in some municipalities, which limits its full function in the region.
He considered that the situation is occurring throughout the country, so it is urgent to reassure the staff so that they continue to work in the hope of better days.
“What is most worrying are the difficulties that plague the entire country, in terms of structures and staffing difficulties,” he stressed.
Regarding crimes, Astrigildo Culolo said that the issue of public property vandalism and other crimes in the northern judicial region, which includes the provinces of Malanje, Uíge, Cuanza-Norte and Zaire, is particularly worrying.
The magistrate was received in audience by the provincial governor, Marcos Nhunga, with whom he discussed the issue of the Attorney General’s Office, the strengthening of cooperation with the Government, and the training in secretarial acts and administrative procedures to be given to justice officials.
Meanwhile, Marcos Nhunga expressed the Government’s willingness to cooperate for the swift functioning of the bodies involved in the administration of justice, providing all possible institutional support.
He said there is a need for the justice institutions and the Government to work together to ensure judicial practice that meets the demands and corresponds to the common interests of combating crime.
The inspection program of the prosecutor Astrigildo Culolo continues on Tuesday (10), with working meetings with officials from the Provincial Delegations of the Interior and Justice, and the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the Provincial Court, among others.
