Africa-Press – Angola. The chairperson of the Namibe Commercial and Industrial Association (ACIM), Amadeu Silva, defended on Friday, in Moçâmedes, the need for banks to provide greater support to the productive sector to diversify the economy and increase national production.
Silva lamented the lack of support from competent institutions, stating that the weak involvement of credit bodies weakens the business class.
“Without the support of the banks, entrepreneurs do not grow. We want to create wealth and the banking sector is an entity to help entrepreneurs. The government has determined that banks apply 3% of the non-mandatory reserve for credit and unfortunately they prefer to pay the fine for non-application rather than grant credit,” he lamented.
Amadeu Silva also said that ACIM brings together 150 members, who boost the province’s industrial park, operating in the extraction of ornamental rocks, manufacturing industry, fishing sector, agriculture and hospitality and tourism.
He stated that, in the coming months, the association will make a university hospital available to the public. This hospital has already been approved by the authorities and the staff are currently completing specialized training abroad.
He added that the local entrepreneurs involved in the project intend to contribute to improving hospital management and humanizing health services in the province and the country as a whole.
