Africa-Press – Angola. The Egyptian ambassador to Angola, Nevine El-Husseiny, on Wednesday praised Angola’s efforts to empower women, citing their representation in Parliament and the state administration.

Speaking at the end of a meeting with MPLA vice-president Mara Quiosa, the diplomat highlighted Angola as a good example of women’s empowerment, underscoring that the percentage of women in the National Assembly and the central state administration is an important indicator of progress in achieving gender equality.

Nevine El-Husseiny stated that during the meeting, the two parties discussed priority sectors for both countries, such as agriculture, health, infrastructure, and energy. She emphasized Angola’s incentives for foreign investors.

The diplomat said that Egypt supports Angola in raising the level of maturity in sectors such as health, production, and fertilizer exports. She underscored that, in recent years, her country has trained numerous African professionals and that Angola has been awarded 140 scholarships for professionals in various fields, highlighting the importance of South-South cooperation.

The MPLA vice president also met with the Turkish ambassador to Angola, Muhammet Çelik, with whom she discussed possible areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly economic cooperation.

The ambassador indicated that strengthening economic cooperation would benefit both states and that Turkey is willing to share its technology in areas that Angola prioritizes for development.
