Africa-Press – Angola. The National Fuel Society of Angola (Sonangol), in Luanda, opened a new Corporate Data Center, an infrastructure that consolidates the company as an integrated energy company prepared for the challenges of digital and energy transition.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas (Mirempet), the center also consolidates the company’s commitment to technological modernization and operational efficiency.

With approximately 920 square meters, the space includes an administrative area, a security operations center, an area for monitoring infrastructure, networks and systems, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) rooms, communications rooms and a 400-square-meter data center, 182 of which are currently in effective use, with potential for future growth.

The inauguration of the data center, part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the oil company marked this Wednesday (25), was conducted by the secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Sebastião Martins.

On the occasion, the Director of Information Systems and Technologies of the oil company, Edivaldo Manuel, explained that the new center represents the result of a technological centralization strategy for the company.

To him, the company previously had several data centers distributed across its subsidiaries, now brought together in one space, guaranteeing greater efficiency, control and operational security.
