Africa-Press – Angola. Malabo – The outgoing chairman of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OASCP) João Lourenço was awarded a prize during the 11th Session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government, on Saturday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

The Angolan Foreign Minister disclosed the information to the press, adding that the prize recognizes the work carried out by Lourenço as head of the regional organization, a fact that was also acknowledged at the forums held on Thursday and at the Extraordinary Council of Ministers of the OACPS on Friday.

Regarding the achievements attributed to Angola, the minister stressed that the country’s performance is “marked by humility, but by a lot of action without necessarily saying what we have achieved”.

The minister added that this suggests that Angola is leaving the organization on a path of progress.

‘We need to continue the work done by Angola. Equatorial Guinea, which will now preside over the organization, will certainly continue to implement this dynamic, ensuring that it truly becomes an international organization,” he stated.

He said that the transformation of the OACPS from a partnership with countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific to an international organization is not necessarily easy, but it is ongoing.

He appealed for continued support, especially from the African continent, as it has a significant responsibility given that it constitutes the majority of the organization.
