Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Youth Council, Isaías Kalunga, expressed happiness that the Heads of State of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP) are concerned about the present and future of youth.

The fact gains relevance because the 79 Member States have a population of 1.5 billion inhabitants, of which more than 60% are young people, which is why the subject is at the center of the debates at the XI Summit of the OEACP, which ended this Sunday, in Equatorial Guinea.

Isaías Kalunga was part of the delegation that participated in the Youth Forum, Thursday, headed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Pinto de Andrade.

Isaías Kalunga highlighted that it is with youth that strong African states are envisioned, both in the present and in the future.

He said that, for this reason, the president, João Lourenço, emphasized in his speech at the Summit that States must focus on training and capacity building, as well as on guiding young people, as they are the guarantor of a strong Africa, for the challenges that are imposed at a global level.

In the face of conflicts generated by invasions by military powers, it is imperative that the voice of young people be heard, that respect for international treaties and laws is necessary, as well as the integrity of every African citizen and the world, in general.

African people have been involved in conflicts, which clearly hampers scientific development, he lamented.

Hence, at the Forum, young people recommended that our heads of state can focus on issues related to peace.
