Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço appointed on Tuesday Aquiles Gonçalves da Silva Francisco as Judge Counselor of the Court of Auditors (TC).
According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, the appointment followed a meeting of the Superior Council of the Judiciary’s Plenary, which decided to fill the vacancy by appointing Aquiles Francisco.
The TC is the supreme body responsible for overseeing the legality of public finances and judging accounts subject to its jurisdiction by law.
It is responsible for overseeing the financial activity of the state and other public legal entities determined by law, issuing opinions on the general state account, proactively overseeing the legality of acts and contracts that generate public expenditure and enforcing financial liabilities for restitution and sanctions.
