Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State for Social Affairs, Maria do Rosário Bragança, appealed on Tuesday (14), in the town of Muxima, for a civic behaviour to all citizens that will be present at the locations where Pope Leo XIV will visit.

The minister made this appeal during a fact-finding visit to the Coxi neighborhood Health Center in the town of Muxima, which has satisfactory conditions for the challenges ahead.

According to the minister, the challenges in the days leading up to the Holy Father’s visit are for all Angolans, focusing on creating a positive environment to receive him.

For her, it is necessary that the civic behavior of Angolans be permanent, taking advantage of the papal visit which can strengthen social values.

The governor praised the organization and conditions created in the three locations where the Pope will be, specifically in Kilamba (Luanda), Muxima (Icolo & Bengo), and Saurimo (province of Lunda-Sul).

“The areas where the Pope will be have been inspected and the schedule is almost entirely ready,” she confirmed, although she acknowledged that some finishing touches are still needed, but these have already been taken care of.

On the other hand, the minister recommended caution on the roads for those heading to Muxima, due to the increased risk of accidents.

In turn, Father Mpindy Alberto, rector of the Muxima Sanctuary, confirms that everything is prepared for the Pope’s arrival.

He assured that upon his arrival, the Pope will find a people of God, a meeting place between the human and the divine.

Founded in 1599, the Muxima Sanctuary is a place of pilgrimage, miracles, and offers reconciliation, healing, and spiritual conversion, he said.

For Angolans who travel there, the priest added, the Sanctuary is a meeting point with God through Mary.

Mpindy Alberto also spoke about devotion and spirituality, encouraging conversion and encounter with God through the word, sacraments, and counseling.

The rector informed that the image of Our Lady of Muxima (Mamã Muxima), which had been removed from its site while rehab works were underway, has returned to its place.

Furthermore, the priest asked travelers to prepare themselves spiritually, drive carefully, and seek fraternal unity.

Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Muxima is scheduled for the 19th of the current month, where hundreds of devotees from various provinces of Angola and abroad will be with him to pray the rosary for the gift of peace.
