Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda defeated Vila Clotilde 115-90, on Wednesday (15), in the second game of the quarterfinals of the National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship, and qualified for the semifinals, where they are to face Interclube.
With this result, Petro de Luanda, who came from a 99-63 victory in the first game, did not need to resort to the third game, however, they had to do their best to take a four-point advantage (60-56) at halftime and secure the victory.
Without point guard Childe Dundão and forward Aboubakar Gakou, by technical choice, Petro experienced defensive difficulties to impose themselves at the beginning of the third period, registering a small advantage of 69-67, having overcome it at the end, 92-72.
Vila’s team stood out at certain moments in the second quarter on offense, with three-pointers, and on defense, blocking crucial plays with “blocks,” but the performance was insufficient to avoid defeat (90-115) and force a 3rd game.
Interclube reached the semifinals by overcoming Casa Pessoal do Porto do Lobito with two victories, 81-76 and tonight, 93-86.
In the other semifinals, 1o de Agosto face Sporting de Luanda.
The military team eliminated Ferroviário also with two wins (98-43 and 97-56), while the 1o de Agosot overcame Petro B, 72-69 and 67-62, respectively.
