Dario Antonio Wins “Volta a Angola” Prologue Race

Africa-Press – Angola. Dario Antonio, a cyclist from Interclube, won Friday’s 4 km prologue race in Moçâmedes, in the province of Namibe, with a time of 5 minutes and 14 seconds.

Euclides Chingue, a cyclist from Luanda’s AST team, took second place with a time of 5 minutes and 14 seconds. Igor Silva Pepino, from Benguela’s JT team, took third place with a time of 5 minutes and 17 seconds.

Kelson Rodrigues, from the JT team, won the jersey for the best young rider in the race with a time of 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Cristóvão Teixeira, from the TCJ team, won the white jersey with a time of 5 minutes and 18 seconds. Cristiano Rame, from the ACJ team, won the jersey for the strongest climber. Dário António is the overall leader of the race.

The Namibe/Huila Long Distance race starts on Saturday in Caraculo, in the municipality of Bibala.

At least 79 cyclists from 27 teams in 14 countries are participating in the fourth edition of the “Volta a Angola Pepino 2025,” including Cape Verde, Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Senegal, Mali, and Mozambique, among others.

The 4 km prologue is an individual time trial and the first opportunity for athletes to showcase their abilities before Saturday’s race. FH/FA/MC
