Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Sports, Teresa Ulundo, guaranteed support from the Ministry for the improvement of Campo 1o de Maio, in order to prevent the games of the province’s representative in Girabola (CRUM) from being held in another province.

He said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to interact with the Angolan Football Federation, with a view to providing the necessary institutional support for CRUM in the finest form of national football, which starts within two months.

Speaking at a meeting with the management and athletes of the Clube Recreativo União de Malanje (CRUM), the official stressed that the group’s rise to the first division championship is a source of pride and represents a gain for the province, as it boosts the sports movement in the region.

She said that the rise of CRUM to Girabola should be taken on by the local government and the business class as a provincial project, with a view to ensuring the permanence of the team in the race.

Therefore, it considers it necessary to combine efforts between the provincial government, the business class and the Provincial Football Association in mobilizing support for a dignified presence of the representative of Malanje in Girabola.

In turn, Malanje’s deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Domingos Eduardo, made it known that the government will support the club, despite its financial limitations.

He recalled that the province has less good experiences in Girabola and hopes that this time it will be different, through the mobilization of Malanjian society, to avoid an ephemeral presence of CRUM in the championship.

Meanwhile, the president of the Provincial Football Association (APF), Mário Machado, called for the urgent rehabilitation of Campo 1o de Maio, considering it to be a colonial structure and out of adjustment to the current context.

He pointed out the lack of a decent lawn and locker room, in addition to its irregular terrain that put the athletes’ physical integrity at risk, as the main critical points.

CRUM’s sports director, Armando Soares, stressed on the occasion that the team will continue to focus on training levels, in order to remove teenagers and young people from the world of delinquency.

In addition to meeting the CRUM board and athletes, the Secretary of State for Sports visited some sports facilities in the districts of Malanje and Cangandala.

On Thursday (6) he works in the municipalities of Calandula and Cacuso.
