Africa-Press – Angola. The presidential candidate of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Benedito Daniel, reaffirmed, this Tuesday, in Viana, Luanda, his position in relation to the federalist model as the most appropriate system of governance for the country.
The politician, who was speaking at the opening of the V Ordinary Congress of the PRS, which brings together delegates from all over the country, argued that “only federalism can resolve the country’s situation in the social, political, economic, cultural and other domains”.
In his speech, Benedito Daniel took a look at the history of the party and the achievements of the past term, which was marked by the formation of militants and internal cohesion.
He called for unity and cohesion within the militants, for the deepening of patriotism and convictions towards federalism, aiming at the country’s development.
For three days, delegates to Congress will discuss and approve the minutes and report of the previous conclave, as well as create committees to review amendments to the statutes, party strategies and programs and implementation of local authorities.
The election of the party’s governing bodies, the president and the national committee is scheduled for the last day of the event, which takes place under the motto “Defend the People, Renew the Country, Build the Nation”.
Benedito Daniel is running for his own succession because Gaspar Fernandes’ candidacy was not accepted due to lack of sufficient time in the organization, while Sapalo António withdrew and is absent from the conclave.
