Africa-Press – Angola. Organizational aspects of the events included in the framework of the 50 years of National Independence, on Monday, in Luanda, motivated a meeting between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) and the heads of the national federations.
The meeting, which took place in the amphitheatre of the Sports Gallery of the Cidadela Complex, took place behind closed doors, under the chairmanship of the secretary of State for Sport, Paulo Madeira, who was accompanied by the national director of sector, Âgueda Gomes.
The press was not allowed to attend the meeting and was only informed that the conclusions of the meeting would be made public in due course.
Press learned that some personalities were present at the event, such as the chairman of the athletics federation, Bernardo João, the chairman of the mixed martial arts federation, Armando Diogo, the chairman of the karate-do federation, Giliano André, and the chairman of the table tennis federation, Manuel Morais, as well as representatives of sports such as chess, boxing, cycling, basketball, football, judo, jiu-jitsu, swimming and golf.
The main program of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of national independence, to be marked on November 11, includes more than 20 competitions between African Championships and International Tournaments.
The events include the 2nd edition of the “Presidential Golf Day” International Tournament in Luanda, the African Senior Men’s Basketball Championship (Afrobasket 2025), in Luanda, Benguela and Namibe and a friendly match between the Angolan and Argentinean football teams in Luanda, the International Karate-do Tournament in Luanda, the International Gymnastics Festival in Huambo, the Paralympic Festival in Cuanza Norte, a friendly match between the Angolan and Turkish amputee football teams and the Tour of Angola-Pepino da Dipanda in cycling.
The celebrations also known as “Dipanda festival” will also include sports events such as the International Tournament for 50 Years of Women’s Handball in Namibe, the International Tournament for 50 Years of Men’s Handball in Cabinda, the International Roller Hockey Tournament in Luanda and Namibe, the International Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Tournament “Dipanda ya Waba” in Uíge and the São Silvestre Special Edition Angola`2025 in Luanda.
As part of the sporting activities commemorating the date of the proclamation of National Independence, the African Fencing Championship for Cadets and Juniors was organized from the 1st to the 7th of the current month, with the participation of at least 190 fencers from 12 countries.
