Africa-Press – Angola. – The Petro de Luanda and National Team sprinter Marco dos Santos will resume physical training, following a first-degree left femoral injury at the World Track and Field Championships held in Tokyo, Japan, in September.

According to a source at the Petro de Luanda club, 21-year-old Marcos will begin physical training on Oct 20th to rebuild his muscles and undergo medical tests.

He is expected to head to Brazil for high-performance training for the Olympics in early November.

The athlete has been out since the 10th of September after injuring himself while leading the first qualifying round of the 100m race, failing to finish the race and the competition, which was his second appearance after 2023 in Budapest, Hungary.

Marcos dos Santos is the first Angolan athlete to advance past the first knockout stage of an Olympic Games, finishing 2nd with a time of 10.31 in Paris in 2024, beating his own record (10.42).
