Africa-Press – Angola. The process of transferring flights from the remaining seven airlines at the 4 de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) in Icolo e Bengo province will take place from November 27th to December 2nd of this year.

This phase includes Air France, which announced the start of its operations at AIAAN from the 30th of this month, Transportadora Aérea Portuguesa (TAP), which has scheduled its transfer for December 1st, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, and Airlink.

This process concludes the gradual transfer program of all services from the former 4 de Fevereiro Airport to AIAAN, where Angola Airlines (TAAG) has been operating since October 19th (international flights), and Emirates, which transferred its flights on November 1st, 2025.Inaugurated on November 10, 2023, the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, located in the municipality of Bom Jesus, occupies an area of ​​1,324 hectares, with a capacity for 15 million passengers per year and a cargo volume of 130,000 tons.

With two double runways, the airport is prepared to receive, among others, B747 and A380 type aircraft, the latter considered the largest commercial aircraft currently in operation.

The south runway (the longer one), which is four thousand meters long and 60 meters wide, received, in June 2022, the first experimental flight of a Boeing 777 aircraft from the national flag carrier – TAAG.In addition to the two runways, AIAAN also has 31 jet bridges, 19 for international services and 11 for domestic services, as well as nine baggage handling conveyors, six of which are dedicated to international flights.

Among other things, the airport infrastructure includes 26 counters for the Immigration and Foreigners Service (SME), a parking lot for 1,710 vehicles, as well as space reserved for shops, in an area of ​​1,825 square meters.
