Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Cardinal Eug\u00e9nio Dal Corso appealed, Friday (17), in Menongue, to political parties and society to cultivate civility and mutual respect, for the success of the general elections of 24 August.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the Catholic prelate said that he hopes that the supporters will come, during the campaign, to be guided by speeches of peace and capable of uniting Angolans, for the holding of civic and peaceful elections.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Eug\u00e9nio Dal Corso considered it essential that the election be carried out in accordance with the maturity of the militants of the various competing political parties, with the placing, in first place, of all Angolans, as children of the same country.<\/p>\n

“My wish is that the elections on 24 August, convened by the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, focus on respect for mutual acceptance and the free choice of each citizen”, emphasized the cardinal.<\/p>\n

According to the Catholic prelate, the country is moving towards true democracy, so it is fair that different political parties and coalitions of political parties should be involved.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Dal Corso said that “we should not resort to any act of violence, but rather opt for the respect of citizens and the flags of each party, to show the world the greatness and nobility that the country is gaining”.<\/p>\n

For the cardinal, society is invited to promote a culture of peace, harmony and respect, to set an example to the African continent and to the world that the Angolan people are able to carry out peaceful and reconciliation elections, in an environment of tranquility.<\/p>\n
