Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Huambo, Dom Zeca Martins, yesterday asked the heads of the different political parties in the province to make interventions at the service of the Nation, with a view to assuming a patriotic and democratic stance, before, during and after the general elections of 24 August.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Catholic prelate was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the premises of Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Novembro in Huambo, which served to learn about the current functioning of the organ. He said that it is the responsibility of political parties to help Angolans to achieve social and economic development to cultivate coexistence in communities.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that in this new political era, after the general elections, it is necessary to have strong foundations, so that Angola is a better and peaceful place for everyone, where everyone is governed and everyone feels they are participating in his ideas.<\/p>\n

He added that the preservation of peace, achieved on April 4, 2002, is an individual obligation of each Angolan, as well as national unity and reconciliation, despite political and party differences.<\/p>\n

The Catholic appealed to continue to value competent national cadres, without discrimination of color and race, in the sense of “putting the right men in the right places”.<\/p>\n

At the end of the visit, the director of Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Novembro in Huambo, Vict\u00f3ria Quintas, was satisfied and, in brief, stressed that the company is aware that the Catholic Church is a fundamental pillar in the edifice of the Nation that is intended to be built, for always being a partner of the Angolan State.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the Catholic Church was one of the pillars that kept the country and the people united in the ideal of one God, one country throughout the conflict of bad memory.<\/p>\n
