Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will go today, Sunday, January 9, 2022, to Nigeria and on Monday, January 10, 2022, to Angola, where he will hold meetings with senior officials of the two countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

In Nigeria, the Foreign Minister is expected to meet with his counterpart, Geoffrey Onyeama. After the talks, the two Foreign Ministers will sign a Memorandum of Bilateral Cooperation.<\/p>\n

During his stay in Nigeria, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is also expected to meet with the Minister of State for Health, Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, and then with the Vice President of Nigeria, Oluyemi Oluleboy “Y”.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, January 11, the Foreign Minister will be in Angola where he is expected to meet with his counterpart Tete Ant\u00f3nio.<\/p>\n

After the talks, the two Foreign Ministers will sign a Memorandum of Bilateral Cooperation. Following the signing, joint statements to the press are expected.<\/p>\n

The Greek Foreign Minister is then expected to meet with the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta. Afterwards, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will go to the Lubango Sports School where a Greek donation will be offered, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Youth, Fernando Francisco Jo\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will hold a meeting with the Minister of State in charge of Economic Coordination, Manuel Jos\u00e9 Nunes J\u00fanior.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, January 12, the Foreign Minister is expected to be received by the President of Angola, Jo\u00e3o Manuel Gon\u00e7alves Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

The talks in both Nigeria and Angola, which are part of the broader plan to activate Greek foreign policy on the African continent, will focus, inter alia, on regional and international developments, the joint effort to tackle the pandemic, and in strengthening political and economic bilateral relations with an emphasis on investment.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Minister is expected to underline Greece’s foreign policy priorities, which are based on adherence to international law and good neighborly relations.<\/p>\n

In this context, it is expected to refer to the challenges in the neighborhood of our country, as well as to the candidacy for a position of non-permanent member in the UN Security Council in the period 2025-26.<\/p>\n

As part of Greece’s continued assistance to third countries in combating the coronavirus pandemic, the Foreign Minister is expected to announce the offering of vaccine doses of COVID-19: 900.000 in Nigeria, through the COVAX mechanism and 100.000 in Angola.<\/p>\n
