Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Ombudsman’s Office made public, Thursday (30), in Luanda, that it received 517 requests to intervene with the judicial bodies in cases related to land conflicts, labor, complaints about public tenders, among others.<\/b><\/p>\n

The provider confirmed that the requests were addressed to the institution during the first half of 2022. Florbela Ara\u00fajo advanced the data when pointing out the deputies of the 10th Commission of the National Assembly on the technical performance of the Ombudsman, within the scope of their visit to the institution.<\/p>\n

The volume of requests, totaling 517, is below the 800 registered last year. In the case of issues that are not directly related to the Ombudsman’s Office, Florbela Ara\u00fajo mentioned that, before being filed, technical clarifications are carried out, in order to keep citizens informed and guide them in the sense of continuing to defend their rights. .<\/p>\n

Deputy Arlete Chimbinda, president of the 10th Commission of the National Assembly, which oversees Human Rights, Petitions, Complaints and Suggestions from Citizens, said that the visit made it possible to learn about the functioning of the Ombudsman’s Office, realizing the concerns in carrying out its activities, as well as how to deepen the ties of cooperation between Parliament and the Ombudsman.<\/p>\n

Although the National Assembly does not directly address the concerns raised by citizens, with respect to the separation of powers, it will forward the registered concerns to the competent authorities, namely insufficient resources, lack of adequate infrastructure, transport and staff flight.<\/p>\n
