Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The security of all protocol entities involved in the August 24 electoral process is safeguarded, said in the city of U\u00edge, the commander of the Personal Security Unit and Protocol Entities (USPEP), Chief Superintendent Jos\u00e9 Salvador Wele.<\/b><\/p>\n

The high ranking officer, who was speaking in an activity included in the celebrations of the 29th anniversary of the creation of this body assigned to the National Police, marked on 30 June, considered it necessary to reinforce discipline, commitment and professionalism, a sense of responsibility and respect for the fundamental rights of citizens , especially in the pre-campaign, campaign and election day phases.<\/p>\n

Linking to the corporation’s motto, according to which “USPEP is firm in ensuring protocol entities and general elections”, Commander Jos\u00e9 Wele said that the staff, lately, have benefited from regular refresher classes in matters of personal security at the Instruction Camargo Correia, according to the plans conceived by the unit’s central command for this election year.<\/p>\n

The refreshment of forces in matters of protection of individuals, he added, has had the intervention of the Provincial Command of the National Police, as well as Cuban, Portuguese, Spanish and Israeli specialists, as a result of the existing cooperation between the military institutions. Jos\u00e9 Wele acknowledged that the unit’s staff have spared no effort in learning and enriching tactical and technical knowledge in the field of the specialty, for the accomplishment of missions, especially in this electoral phase that “requires more professionalism”.<\/p>\n

The Chief Superintendent was pleased with the efforts that have been made by the staff in order to be able to reach the highest academic degrees, considered important for a better understanding of social, political and economic phenomena.<\/p>\n

“The academic growth of the staff has been notorious, as a result of the sacrifice they make in reconciling the tasks of securing with school training”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

This dedication, he said, allowed the academic and cultural overcoming of the officers and other staff of USPEP. He informed that he currently has 8 graduates, 48 \u200b\u200battending higher education and 127 in the second cycle.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Wele recalled that the security system protects 30 entities, including three from the executive branch, six legislative and 16 judicial, a general officer, four commission officers, as well as maintaining uninterrupted static protection of 15 official installations, between workplaces and entity residences.<\/p>\n

USPEP staff also participated in mobilizing to comply with measures to combat and prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic during the critical phase between 2020 and 2021, as well as in raising awareness of the population about street sales in inappropriate places, denouncing groups of criminals, securing major events and demonstrations.<\/p>\n
