Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of Information and Social Communication of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication highlighted, Thursday (7), the importance of the involvement of journalists in the promotion of electoral civic education.<\/b><\/p>\n

o\u00e3o Demba was speaking at the end of an observation visit to the facilities of public and private media bodies, based in Huambo province, namely R\u00e1dio Mais, Angop, Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Novembro-EP, TPA, R\u00e1dio Eccl\u00e9sia and R\u00e1dio Nacional de Angola.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that it is important for journalists to do work that mobilizes the population to be disciplined, from an ethical, civic and moral point of view, in order to recognize the value of the General Elections of 24 August, to bring the largest number of voters to the polls.<\/p>\n

Director Jo\u00e3o Demba urged media professionals to strive for rigor, impartiality and impartiality, so that electoral coverage is done in a balanced and accurate way, for the peaceful participation of the population in the “democracy party”.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that there is another space for political debate, he said, it is in the press where the electoral dispute takes place, “hence the reason for respecting journalistic principles in the dissemination of informative content”.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Jo\u00e3o Demba was satisfied with the level of readiness of the media in the province of Huambo, a fact that favors efficient electoral coverage.<\/p>\n

He added that he made contact with the levels of technical and human organization of each of the bodies visited, having verified that the professionals are motivated. At the end of the working day, Jo\u00e3o Demba had a meeting with the director of the Social Communication Office of the Government of the province of Huambo, Andr\u00e9 Ramos Marta Pereira de Santana, and with those responsible for the bodies.<\/p>\n

Angolans will go to the polls on the 24th of August, for the fifth time, to elect the President of the Republic, the Vice-President and the deputies to the National Assembly. The first four took place in 1992, 2008, 2012 and 2017.<\/p>\n

For the next election, seven parties and a coalition of political parties presented candidacies, namely the MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, PHA, APN, P-NJANGO and CASA-CE.<\/p>\n

More than 14.399 million voters are expected, of which 22,560 are located abroad.<\/p>\n
