Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deconcentration of the Ombudsman’s services in the country is an imperative of the body’s activity, in respect of the principles of speed, accessibility and proximity to citizens, said the ombudsman Florbela Ara\u00fajo in Rosario, Argentina.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Ombudsman in the country, contrary to what happens in several countries, does not have its services in the municipalities, despite having representations in the 18 provinces. Florbela Ara\u00fajo made such considerations, on Wednesday, when she presented the theme “The Ombudsman in the management of local conflicts”, on the second working day of the International Congress on Conflict Mediation, which has been taking place since Tuesday in Rosario, Argentina.<\/p>\n

In her dissertation, the Angolan jurist highlighted the role played by the institution in land conflicts and the experience in dealing with complaints addressed to the Ombudsman, at the level of national services. Florbela Ara\u00fajo pointed out the need for ombudsmen to monitor social conflicts, work with communities to raise awareness among citizens in order to avoid negative behaviour.<\/p>\n

The event, which brings together ombudsmen from several countries, ended yesterday. In Angola, the Ombudsman’s mission is to defend the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, ensuring, through informal means, the justice and legality of the Public Administration’s activity.<\/p>\n
