Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The press spoke, exclusively, with the President of the Angolan Chess Federation, Tito Martins, by telephone, he who is one of the faces responsible for the brilliant course of the modality.<\/p>\n

Chess is a modality with a unique tradition in the national sport paradigm, the work that has been developed over generations is the culmination of an unprecedented success.<\/p>\n

Recently, it was another day of glory and joy for the showcases of the modality gallery, with Jemima Paulo ( under-16) , winning the gold medal, with Alexandre Pr\u00f3spero (under-18), winning the silver medal, and with Jaime Sonhy, (under-16), winning the Bronze medal, in the last African Youth Chess Championship, in Lusaka, Zambia.<\/p>\n

“We are on the path of titles, titles galvanize because they are an instrument that allows society to be sensitized to obtain greater financial support, as well as new members who wish to join the sport.”<\/p>\n

Tito Martins said that he and the team would like to achieve a title that the country has not yet achieved.<\/p>\n

“We want to continue to develop chess so that one day we can achieve the title of Grand Master, which is the title that our country lacks, and which I hope will still be in my mandate.<\/p>\n

And for that there has been a greater focus on the organizational part in betting on international competitions for the youngest.<\/p>\n

“We have invested in international competitions, especially in African ones so that they help us to have more recognition and visibility.”<\/p>\n

Finally, the President left a challenge for young people to practice this sport, as they will reap many benefits from it.<\/p>\n

“It is important that young people practice the sport, as it helps in cognitive development, in obtaining better school results, and with that they can become better and more disciplined citizens, and divert them from fruitless paths. This is the balance of a unified society for the sake of a greater good.”<\/p>\n
