Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Executive, in the context of asset recovery and privatization of public companies, has rescued, since 2017, stakes in financial institutions, buildings, companies, vehicles and miscellaneous assets.<\/b><\/p>\n

These are goods that were illegally in the possession of people who defrauded the treasury for many years, according to official data released today in Luanda. According to the source, in the last five years, movable and immovable assets constituted with public funds, valued at more than five billion and 434 million dollars, have been seized or arrested.<\/p>\n

Of the referred amount, two billion and 709 million in cash, and another two billion and 620 million in properties (housing, offices, factories and port terminals).<\/p>\n

The assets, now owned by the Angolan State, are improving the living conditions of thousands of citizens, with emphasis on the investments made in programs to combat poverty, social development and the promotion of employment.<\/p>\n

Privatizations<\/b><\/p>\n

In 2019, the 2019\/2022 Privatization Program was launched, which provides for the total or partial privatization of large, medium and small public companies.<\/p>\n

Among the objectives of the program, we highlight the creation and promotion of favorable conditions for private investment, the acquisition of equipment, technologies, as well as specific skills for the restructuring and resizing of the Public Business Sector.<\/p>\n

As part of the same programme, 39 assets and companies were privatized and 162 manufacturing units are yet to be privatized. Of this number, 100 are active with paralyzed activities, being located in the Special Economic Zone.<\/p>\n
