Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 (CEAST), Dom Jos\u00e9 Manuel Imbamba, appealed, this Sunday, in Luanda, to people to fight to overcome the vanities of this world, manifested in pride, ambition and selfishness, which generate wars, crimes of all kinds, for the good and unity of families.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Archbishop stressed the need for the faithful to turn to Jesus, dead and risen, with the aim of setting the course for life and the future as a people and as a nation. For the Catholic prelate, only by listening to the Father’s beloved Son, families will be able to understand the meaning and value of the sacrifice of tasks, obligations and daily struggles.<\/p>\n

Sun. Jos\u00e9 Manuel Imbamba was speaking during the Mass of the Experience of the Synod, which marked the end of the first phase of this national event and dictated the launch of the celebration of the jubilee of 530 years of evangelization in Angola.<\/p>\n

The Archbishop of Saurimo explained that the synodal celebration is an invitation to an examination of conscience, as a call to humility that seeks only the truth of Christ and trusts in his powerful intercession.<\/p>\n

“Only in this way will people be able to overcome the darkness that still shadows their families, communities and societies”, he said, to advance that “we must overcome human, social and political distrust, which threatens peace between brothers, understanding and the joy of living together, and fighting for the true development of our countries and each one of us\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

The president of CEAST recognized that there are still people who do not know Christ the Savior, or who know him poorly and simply do not live according to his teachings.<\/p>\n

Synod of Bishops in October<\/b><\/p>\n

During the mass, which took place in the Parish of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o Paulo II, in Talatona, which was attended by Archbishop Alexandre Cardeal do Nascimento, Apostolic Nuncio, Dom Giovanni Gaspari, and the bishops of CEAST, Dom Manuel Imbamba revealed that the fundamental stage will be the celebration of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, scheduled for October 2023.<\/p>\n

For this, the Archbishop reinforced the pastoral appeal for all the faithful of the communities to assume, individually and in families, groups or movements, the commitments and demands of this “walking together”.<\/p>\n
