Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Visits to the Museum of the Kings of Kongo, in the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, by both national and foreign tourists, researchers and ordinary citizens, will soon be charged as part of a project that will establish a new organic statute to the institution, the approval of which is eagerly awaited.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking yesterday to the press, in Mbanza Kongo, Luntadila Lunguana, a museum technician, said that the aforementioned statute, which is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment and, later, publication in the Di\u00e1rio da Rep\u00fablica, will establish the rates to be applied, both for nationals and foreigners.<\/p>\n

“In principle, there is already a law at the national level that standardizes charges in museums and other monuments and sites, classified as National Heritage”, guaranteed Luntadila Lunguana, who added that there is a decree that stipulates two levels of charges.<\/p>\n

“We have the level that establishes the charge for locals for nationals and another for foreign visitors. For nationals we also have two fees, the unguided visit being set at 176 kwanzas and the guided visit at 264 kwanzas. For foreigners , a value of 264 kwanzas is set for the visit without a guide, while with a guide, the value is 352 kwanzas. This is the law established by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage in Angola\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

According to the specialist, at the local level it is still not possible to establish charges, because a legal framework is awaited, that is, there is not yet a diploma that guarantees a specific statute for the functioning of the Museum of the Kings of Kongo, at to be expected from these legal assumptions.<\/p>\n

As for the destination of future charges, Luntadila Lunguana said that as soon as they are established, they will be channeled to the Single Treasury Account, and then there will be a return of 60 percent for the execution of some tasks inherent to the animation of the museum, in order to captivate tourists, as well as some maintenance work at the institution.<\/p>\n

“I think that since the museum is a State institution, all collections are destined for the Single Treasury Account (CUT), to later withdraw 60 percent for the museum to guarantee its expenses, such as encouraging employees, financing small maintenance projects and guarantee some activities that demonstrate that it is actually in operation. Future collections will also serve to restore the museum collection, review the scenography of the exhibition and some pieces, as well as review the shape of the showcases, with a view to to encourage visitors\u201d, he defended.<\/p>\n

Change Of Nomenclature<\/b><\/p>\n

Luntadila Lunguana said that with the approval of the new statute of the Museum of the Kings of Kongo, the current name of the institution will be changed to Museum of the Kingdom of Kongo, in order to encompass the entire cultural collection, as well as guarantee the representation of other countries. that were part of the kingdom.<\/p>\n

“The new statute will certainly allow the change of the current name and will define its mission and expand its collection. Currently, this museum only has objects used by the former Kings and elements of their life, but with changes, its collection will cover the Kingdom in general. There is no reason to limit its role, since the Kings no longer exist, hence the communities that were part of the old Kingdom, still exist. This gives a certain opening to carry out studies and, also to make a more comprehensive collection than the current collection\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

The technician stressed that the future statute will also provide for its expansion, in the sense of providing spaces that can house the entire cultural heritage of the ancient Kingdom, as well as constituting a Scientific Council, since the institution will also participate in the community development.<\/p>\n
