Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputies to the National Assembly and Security Forces paid, on Friday (22), in Luanda, a tribute to the ill-fated MPLA parliamentarian Miguel Maria Nzau Puna, who will be buried today at the Mbuco Muadi Cemetery, in Cabinda, his birthplace.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the president of the National Assembly described Nzau Puna as a patriot who from a very young age participated in the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation and consequently in nationalist ideals.<\/p>\n

Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos revealed that deputy Nzau Puna fulfilled his mandate in the Angolan Parliament with zeal, pride and selflessness.<\/p>\n

Tony da Costa Fernandes, contemporary and longtime friend, said that Angola lost a great man, humble, friend of his friends, head of family, brother and longtime companion.<\/p>\n

For Tony da Costa Fernandes, God called a fighter for the country, which is why he asked for a decent burial for the nationalist, while Samba Nzau Puna, Nzau Puna’s eldest son, said that he was always by his father’s side and there were several memories shared over 46 years of age.<\/p>\n

He said that in the last interaction with his father, Nzau Puna asked his son not to wave to him and, in an attempt to visit him the next day, the father left for eternity, leaving pain and grief in the family.<\/p>\n

Virg\u00edlio de Fontes Pereira, president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, said that Angola lost a patriot, an illustrious son of this nation who fought for the liberation of the country and for the construction of peace.<\/p>\n

He also said that he was an affable elder, that he shared his knowledge without reservation and that he will be missed by the party as well as the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Alcides Sakala (from UNITA) described Nzau Puna as a great friend, with whom he walked for a long time and will always be remembered as a great nationalist, someone who fought for democracy and won effective peace in Angola.<\/p>\n

Sakala took the opportunity to address deep feelings of condolence to the family and assured that Nzau Puna leaves a legacy and written memories as a contribution to the History of Angola.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1rio Pinto de Andrade (from the MPLA) said that Nzau Puna was a first-generation nationalist: \u201cToday, if we have a reconciled country, it is partly due to his great contribution\u201d.<\/p>\n

In turn, General Eg\u00eddio de Sousa said that, in addition to sharing political and military life with Miguel Nzau Puna, there is a degree of kinship that unites them, resulting from their marriages, as the wives are first-degree relatives.<\/p>\n

He said, on the other hand, that the Angolan Armed Forces are among the Angolan State bodies that played an important role in national unity, which is why they hosted the funeral to honor this great nationalist.<\/p>\n
