Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In Luanda, director \u00d3scar Gil warned the government to make more investments in audiovisuals, given the importance of cinema in the context of the country’s development.<\/b><\/p>\n

In this process, he explained, the participation of filmmakers and organizations interested in contributing to the growth of the film industry is necessary.<\/p>\n

Audiovisuals, he stressed, constitute a powerful important vehicle, far from entertainment, very valuable, which proves to be a source of knowledge and a didactic means to support the change of mentalities and the construction of identity.<\/p>\n

The director, who was honored at the second edition of the Film Festival, called “Cine Fest”, held from the 19th to the 24th of this month, in Viana, said, on the other hand, that cinema is also a form of diplomacy and promotion of the country and its potential, obviously, cultural, mineral, tourist, agricultural, and Viana can very well use the cinema to promote what is good and best in these spheres, in particular.<\/p>\n

The contribution to the promotion and development of the Angolan seventh art, in particular, and of culture, in general, was one of the great gains of the present edition of “Cine Fest”, according to this year’s honoree.<\/p>\n

\u00d3scar Gil congratulated the producers SEDFILMES and SADIBA, which, in partnership with the Municipal Directorate of Tourism and Culture of Viana, held the Film Festival, in the municipality of Viana.<\/p>\n

According to the filmmaker, the festival allowed hundreds of spectators to have contact with national cinematographic production, having considered it a worthy initiative, for its contribution to the promotion of national cinema.<\/p>\n

For the honoree, it is motivating and rewarding “when our artistic work is seen and appreciated by a diversity of people dedicated to cinema”. In his view, the second edition of “Cine Fest”, in which he was honored, constitutes an incentive to continue working and fighting for projects. “I add my voice to all those who fight for the development of Angolan culture”, said the filmmaker, adding that “I and other professional colleagues traveled the country recording events, among which I highlight the historic South African invasion, in the southern provinces. of Angola\u201d.<\/p>\n

After a few years and armed with the experience gained, he said, he had the opportunity to work in Portugal with renowned professionals such as Nicolau Breyner and the Brazilian director Avancini. “It was at this time that I solidified my taste for image and cinematographic technique. It was a period of great professional growth, especially in the field of documentary cinema and fiction”, highlighted the director.<\/p>\n

On his return to the country, he recalled, he was endowed with a wealth of very valid knowledge. With these skills, he said, allowed him to create “\u00d3scar Gil Produ\u00e7\u00f5es”, a production company that since 1999 has been involved in the various aspects of cinema and audiovisual, in the production of fiction, documentaries and advertisements, using up-to-date technique and technology.<\/p>\n

Along this path, he added, the recognition of the productions resulted in many benefits, with emphasis on the numerous distinctions . \u00d3scar Gil lamented the current state of the audiovisual sector in the country. “Despite the economic difficulties that the country is experiencing, it is possible to produce films on a low budget, using a simple and linear cinematographic language”.<\/p>\n

\u00d3scar Gil has already been distinguished with the career award at the Luanda International Film Festival (FIC-Luanda), awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment. The National Prize for Culture and Arts (PNCA), for the production of the mini-series “Caminhos Cruzados”, the “Africa is More” Prize, for the participation abroad, as a cameraman, in Portuguese telenovelas, and several distinctions by the National Union of Plastic Artists (UNAP).<\/p>\n

Short Film “Elo” By Edgar Cl\u00e1udio Was The Big Winner<\/b><\/p>\n

The national film “Elo”, by director Edgar Cl\u00e1udio, was the big winner of the second edition of the Film Festival, called “Cine Fest”, held from the 19th to the 24th of this month, as part of the activities of the Feira Artesanal de Viana (FAV), in Luanda.<\/p>\n

According to the festival’s organization, the film was awarded the “Grand Prize Municipality Satellite”, for the set of prizes in the categories of best actress, original music, director and sound design.<\/p>\n

The film “Elo” deals with the story of Mary, a woman devoted to God, who tries to educate her teenage daughter with Christian principles.<\/p>\n

To bring the drama to life, actress Sharon Primo shows, in 25 minutes, the afflictions of a woman in search of her daughter. In the story, the director seeks to give the audience an idea of \u200b\u200bthe suffering to which the main character is subjected to find his daughter, as well as to protect her from certain social trends.<\/p>\n

The short film was shot in several locations in Luanda, such as Rangel, Viana and Camama, under the direction of Denis Miala. The film, which featured only national technicians and actors, is Edgar Cl\u00e1udio’s debut in the seventh art. The production has the participation of actors Carlos Alves, Let\u00edcia Almeida, Nelma Valdez and Val\u00e9rcya Nzollani.<\/p>\n

The short film was nominated for the third edition of the “Teranga Movies 2022” awards, which took place from June 29 to July 2, at the Grand Theater of Dakar, Senegal.<\/p>\n

The Film Festival in Dakar aims to award short and feature films, fiction and documentaries of African production.<\/p>\n
