Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The political and security situation in the East of the DRC was analyzed this Monday, in Kinshasa, during the 21st Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), during which an appeal was made for community solidarity to that country in the continental sub-region.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released yesterday, within the scope of the principle of complementarity, the Commission was instructed to adhere to the Luanda Roadmap on the cessation of hostilities by the M23 Group and the immediate withdrawal of the positions occupied in accordance with the Final Communiqu\u00e9 of the Nairobi Mini-Summit.<\/p>\n

The Summit, led by F\u00e9lix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Head of State of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Acting President of ECCAS, reiterated the Community’s commitment to defending, with the United Nations Security Council, the lifting of the arms embargo against the Central African Republic.<\/p>\n

To this end, the document adds, it instructed the Group of Ambassadors of ECCAS Member States, in New York, to work diligently in this direction.<\/p>\n

The 21st Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of ECCAS began with the observance of a minute of silence in memory of engineer Jos\u00e9 Eduardo dos Santos, former President of the Republic of Angola and founding father of the Economic Community of African States Central.<\/p>\n

The conference adopted the Report of the Council of Ministers, as well as the recommendations. In addition to the host Head of State, Presidents Faustin Archange Touadera (RCA), Carlos Manuel Vila Nova (S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe), Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno (President of the Transitional Military Council and President of the Republic of Chad) and representatives of the Heads of State and Government of the other ECCAS members.<\/p>\n

President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o was represented at the event by T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
