Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic evaluated, yesterday, in Luanda, with the ambassador of the United States of America (USA), in Angola, details regarding the holding of the US-Africa summit, to be held in Washington, from 13 to 15 December this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The summit recently announced by the US President, Joe Biden, aims to bring African and North American leaders together to discuss issues of common interest, with a view to strengthening relations between the two continents.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press at the end of the audience, which took place at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta, the US diplomat, Tulinabo Mushingi, said that the request for the designation of the Angolan “focal point” to coordinate the details of the summit with the His country’s government was “promptly” welcomed by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

“We will continue to discuss all the details of the summit with the focal point indicated by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o”, said Tulinabo Mushingi, for whom the event will not only be what the United States wants to debate, but what Africans want to discuss, especially the way to continue moving forward with partnerships, towards progress on both sides.<\/p>\n

The US ambassador praised the support and commitment of the President of the Republic, with a view to resolving the instability in the Great Lakes region, with emphasis on the armed conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/p>\n

“Angola is investing a lot of effort to help resolve the conflict in the Great Lakes Region. Therefore, we are happy”, said Tulinabo Mushingi.<\/p>\n

Bet On Investment<\/b><\/p>\n

The ambassador of the United States of America also said that he had evaluated with the President of the Republic the possibility of sixteen new North American companies investing in the country, in different economic sectors.<\/p>\n

Tulinabo Mushingi defended the promotion of private or public-private investments, stressing that these guarantee employment and technology transfers. “We want to count on the support of the Angolan Government for the creation of a business environment and to attract, more and more, North American private companies in Angola”, she maintained.<\/p>\n

The diplomat mentioned, by the way, that the amount of 2 billion dollars, announced by President Joe Biden, to support renewable energy projects in several Angolan regions, is already being implemented through the North American company Sun Africa, which, together with other construction companies, it participated in the construction of the first photovoltaic power plants in the country, namely that of Bi\u00f3pio and Ba\u00eda Farta, in the province of Benguela, recently inaugurated by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

Referring that the meeting with the Head of State also served to assess the current state of bilateral relations, the US diplomat recalled that US companies that intend to invest in Angola fulfill assumptions that are based on job creation, technology transfer , use of local content and maintain transparency in contracts.<\/p>\n

The US ambassador was pleased that President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o had inaugurated the two photovoltaic plants in the province of Benguela, which will produce clean and cheap energy, which already benefits more than one million citizens.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the North American companies that work in Angola for the production of clean energy and conservation of the environment, intend, above all, to help promote President Joe Biden’s initiative, embodied in the creation of partnerships to invest in the construction of large infrastructures. -structures, as well as promoting the preservation of the environment.<\/p>\n

He pointed to shared prosperity, maritime and health security and good governance as fundamental points throughout his term in Angola, while ensuring that the US Government will continue to support Angola in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, through the provision of vaccines.<\/p>\n

Election<\/b> Support<\/b><\/p>\n

The US ambassador to Angola said that his country has been following the Angolan electoral process for a long time, for which it has provided “modest financial support” of just over US$4 million.<\/p>\n

Tulinabo Mushingi indicated that the funding will help to promote activities aimed at promoting political tolerance and acceptance of the different rules of the game by competitors, so that at the end of the election winners and losers remember that everyone is a child of the same country and must continue to work together to make Angola a world model, in terms of holding elections.<\/p>\n

Positive Reforms <\/b><\/p>\n

The political, social and economic reforms implemented in Angola, begun just over five years ago, are already producing positive results, acknowledged the diplomat from the United States of America.<\/p>\n

“I have been in Angola for four months, and I have already seen that there are some signs of positive results in the reforms that the Angolan Government started to implement in a few years”, said the ambassador, adding that over the last five years the difference can be felt. .<\/p>\n

“Just don’t see those who don’t want to”, stressed the diplomat, who appealed for the recognition of “positive” achievements in Angola.<\/p>\n

Head Of State Congratulates The Cuban Government And People<\/b><\/p>\n

Yesterday, the President of the Republic congratulated the Cuban Government and people on the celebration of another 26th of July, which marks the 69th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks.<\/p>\n

In the letter addressed to his Cuban counterpart, Miguel M\u00e1rio D\u00edaz -Canel Berm\u00fadez, President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o highlighted the courage, bravery, determination and the tradition of resistance of the heroic people of Cuba, who, by consenting to enormous sacrifices,for the justice, freedom and sovereignty of his country and that of other peoples of the world, he left a moral legacy and a revolutionary conscience that continues to inspire new generations of leaders.<\/p>\n

The Head of State reaffirmed that the Angolan Government will always be committed to exploring, more and more, the bilateral cooperation framework and raising it to levels that correspond to the real potential that the two States have, with advantages that satisfy the aspirations of both people.<\/p>\n

Liberia Independence<\/b><\/p>\n

In another letter addressed to the Liberian counterpart, George Manneh Oppong Weah, the Head of State praises the tenacity and values \u200b\u200bof the Liberian people, for the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Independence Day of that country, marked yesterday.<\/p>\n

President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o expresses, in the letter, the conviction of continuing to work towards the development of friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Meeting With The Ex-President Of Cape Verde<\/b><\/p>\n

Just yesterday, the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, had a meeting with the ex-President of Cape Verde, Carlos Fonseca, who in the next few days will return to the country at the head of the mission to observe the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), in the General Elections of 24 August.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, which lasted more than 30 minutes, at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta, Carlos Fonseca said that the meeting served to assess bilateral relations, noting that the two countries share common values \u200b\u200bin important institutions such as the Union. Africana (AU) and in the CPLP.<\/p>\n
