Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Zaire has 259 polling stations for the August 24 General Elections, making a total of 566 polling stations distributed across the province’s six municipalities, the spokesman for the local electoral commission said yesterday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mbanza Kongo Zola Diwampovesa Victorino, who was speaking during the assessment of the activities carried out by the Provincial Electoral Commission (CPE) of Zaire, made it known that of the 259 polling stations, the municipality of Mbanza Kongo has 67, Soyo 62, Kuimba 48, Nzeto 35 , N\u00f3qui 25 and Tomboco 22.<\/p>\n

Zola Victorino also revealed that the CPE has recruited a total of 2,264 people to be members of the polls and 45,28 delegates on the list, who will serve the 321,781 registered voters in the region. He said that the identification labels of polling stations had already been posted at the level of the six municipalities in the province.<\/p>\n

“Until the 30th of this month, political formations must return the equipment containing the registration of list delegates for the purpose of printing the credentials in the municipal electoral commissions and, these, in turn, will send to each candidacy a list confirming the identification and registration of the list delegates\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding polling stations, the capital, Mbanza Kongo, has 186 Soyo 158, Kuimba 86, Nzeto 61, while Tomboco and N\u00f3qui have 40 and 35, respectively. The spokesperson for the Zaire Provincial Electoral Commission said that the training of municipal trainers for polling station staff is currently underway.<\/p>\n

The official recalled that electoral civic education is being provided by 172 agents, distributed in the six municipalities that make up the province, underlining that the process of preparing the elections is proceeding smoothly.<\/p>\n

“At this moment, agents are deployed in all localities with the aim of informing and sensitizing voters so that on August 24th they can join the polling stations to exercise their right and duty of citizenship, in a correct, peaceful and peaceful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Finally, he appealed to political parties and all participants in the electoral process to transmit a message of peace, tolerance and hope.<\/p>\n

“Elections are a party and not synonymous with war. Political party activists, sympathizers and electoral agents must behave in a healthy way, respecting the Constitution and electoral legislation,” he concluded.<\/p>\n
