Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The ambassador of Angola, non-resident in Malawi, Azevedo Xavier, participated, Thursday, in a meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Justice and Attorneys General, in Lilongwe, on behalf of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queiroz.<\/b><\/p>\n

The meeting served for the Committee of Ministers of Justice and Attorneys General to analyze the legal instruments that require revision. It was also analyzed the possibility of ministers being able to guide and authorize, in a legal way, the work of SADC, in order to continue to operate in accordance with national norms, regional and international legal frameworks.<\/p>\n

The Protocol against Trafficking in Persons and the Draft Declaration on Accelerating Action to End AIDS as a Threat to Public Health by 2030 were some of the issues under consideration during the meeting.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Republic of Malawi, Titus Mvalo, as chairman of the Committee of Justice Ministers and Attorneys General of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), opened the event.<\/p>\n

Environmental Cooperation<\/b><\/p>\n

The Governments of Angola and Malawi evaluated yesterday, in the city of Lilongwe, the possibility of cooperating in the fields of environment and natural resources, having agreed to create technical working groups for the elaboration of a memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n

The proposal was evaluated by the non-resident Angolan ambassador in that country, Azevedo Francisco, and the Malawian minister for Natural Resources and Climate Change, Eisenhower Mkaka, who also agreed to hold, in the near future, a meeting at the level of ministers. of the two countries.<\/p>\n

Like Angola, Malawi is a member of SADC, with an estimated population of around 11 million. The Republic of Malawi’s economy is based on agriculture and tourism, which have proven to be important sources of revenue for the State.<\/p>\n
