Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Journalists from various public and private media in the province of Cunene had, yesterday, in Ondjiva, training in matters related to the democratic State and the law, Political Electoral Law, the Role of the Journalist in the Electoral Process and on the Law Organic Elections.<\/p>\n

Promoted by the Public Television of Angola (TPA), the training is part of the process of holding the general elections of 24 August, aiming to provide media professionals with knowledge related to the electoral process.<\/p>\n

The acting director of the TPA Production Center in Cunene, Porf\u00edrio Kasisi, stressed that the training, in addition to being focused on the electoral environment, also had a perspective on human rights in the political and electoral domain.<\/p>\n

For Porf\u00edrio Kasisi, ethics, exemption, impartiality, the collection of in-depth data on some important facts, respect for sources and the plurality of opinions should characterize the work of the journalist, in order to achieve excellence, in the scope of professional ethics.<\/p>\n

“It is essential that journalists maintain a balance, in the face of various facts, from the activities of the parties that are vying for power, as well as the political actors themselves”, he highlighted, insisting that it is necessary to be guided by a dignified posture and work in favor of of society.<\/p>\n

Porf\u00edrio Kasisi defended that the media must observe the ethical and deontological principles of the profession, carrying out neutral and impartial coverage, based on credible sources and reliable evidence.<\/p>\n

He said that media professionals are now called upon to promote the diversity of sources of information in the preparation of articles, without relying exclusively on communiqu\u00e9s issued by political parties and coalitions of political parties, whose tendency is to “pull the heat to their sardines \u201d.<\/p>\n

The acting director of TPA made it known that, regardless of the circumstances and working conditions, journalists in Cunene must, during the elections, carry out their role with professionalism, interpreting well the daily life of an electoral campaign. They must not fall prey to sensationalism and messages of violence from competitors.<\/p>\n
