In an intervention lasting about an hour, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o announced the rehabilitation of the Caiundo-Catuitui road, which will facilitate circulation between the border municipalities of Cuangar, Calai and Dirico, in addition to boosting trade between Angola and Namibia.<\/p>\n

Confident of victory, he also announced the rehabilitation of the important road that connects the historic town of Cuito Cuanavale to Rivungo, passing through Mavinga, whose works should start at the beginning of the second term.<\/p>\n

The MPLA candidate recalled that the bridge over the Mbale Mbale River is under construction and that he believes that the works will soon be completed, thus facilitating the movement of people and goods.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o’s intervention seems to respond to the great concerns of the populations. The crowd stirs, applauds and whistles, a gesture that is repeated throughout the rally. But the MPLA leader continues to present major projects for the province of Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

It promises the construction of infrastructure for the University of Menongue and pays particular attention to higher education in the country. “We are going to build some universities and one of the provinces that will benefit is Cuando Cubango”, he said, warmly applauded.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o recalled that the province of Cuando Cubango is located at a great distance from the coast, which for this reason must be autonomous in many aspects, especially in the training of young people.<\/p>\n

The MPLA candidate assumes the industrialization of the country as one of the great challenges, but says that this requires an increase in energy production capacity.<\/p>\n

In this area, he announced two major achievements for Cuando Cubango: the supply of energy from the Gove hydroelectric dam, in Huambo, to connect the province to the national grid, and the implementation of 17 solar energy projects in an equal number of locations.<\/p>\n

According to the MPLA candidate, the energy project from photovoltaic sources will benefit 175,000 homes in Cuan-do Cubango.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o recalled that the Me-nongue thermal power plant, with a capacity of 50 megawatts and which has benefited around 90,000 homes, is already insufficient to meet the needs of consumers.<\/p>\n

In the field of water, it promises another 4,400 household connections in Menongue, with the expansion of the production and distribution system.<\/p>\n

The MPLA leader, who described several achievements of socio-economic impact in the country, specifically in the field of mobility, investments in roads, railways, ports and airports, said that in Cuando Cubango five ravines were covered, which put into endanger other social infrastructures.<\/p>\n

He underlined that the MPLA is the only party that, in the context of the political conflicts that arose after National Independence, had the courage to go public “to ask, in an honest and humble way, forgiveness from the victims’ relatives and the entire Angolan people, suggesting other parties – directly intervening in conflicts – to do the same.<\/p>\n

The MPLA leader once again highlighted former President Jos\u00e9 Eduardo dos Santos as the promoter of peace and national reconciliation. “Competing parties cannot come and say that they vote for us because we are going to bring peace and national reconciliation. led by the MPLA\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o stressed that the economic reforms are giving good results. Despite the confidence in victory, the MPLA president once again asked that each militant mobilize at least eight citizens of electoral age to vote for the party, thus guaranteeing a landslide victory.<\/p>\n
